Adonai Center for Black Males

Mission/Purpose: To support and promote the social, educational, and economic advancement of black males.

Amachi Pittsburgh

Mission/Purpose: To empower young minds to overcome the challenges of parental incarceration through mentoring, family support, and community engagement. Amachi Pittsburgh was established in 2003 to respond to the needs of a growing, vulnerable population of children of incarcerated parents, to ultimately help break the cycle of generational incarceration.

Gateway Medical Society

Mission/Purpose: To promote health care and general welfare of minorities and socio-economically challenged populations. The minority physicians of GMS have established programs to mentor young men and women interested in a career in medicine, and “closing the gap” by building the pipeline for future physicians with programs that provide direct mentorship, healthcare education, political advocacy, networking and personal professional development.

Heritage Community Initiatives

Mission/Purpose: To enable individuals and organizations to improve the
health, education, economic strength and social vitality in their communities.
Programs in Education, Transportation and Community Engagement complement each other with the goal of targeting the area’s most pressing needs.

Macedonia Family and Community Enrichment Center, Inc. (Macedonia FACE)

Mission/Purpose: To encourage the development of healthy families. Our agency, while a separate 501(c)(3) organization, is the social service outreach of Macedonia Church.

Manchester Citizens Corporation

Mission/Purpose: To plan, build, promote, and maintain a thriving
community representing the residents of Manchester. Founded in 1965 and
incorporated in 1971, MCC is one of the country’s most accomplished community development corporations. The oldest such group in Pittsburgh, MCC has a track record of undertaking complex real estate development projects and forging innovative public-private partnerships to preserve and revitalize the Manchester neighborhood.

Northside Coalition for Fair Housing

Mission/Purpose: To engage in activities that ensure and improve the availability and accessibility of low-income and affordable housing in the
Northside communities while improving the lives of families.

Reading is FUNdamental Pittsburgh

Mission/Purpose: To provide children with the resources, motivation and opportunities to develop a life-long love of reading. RIF Pittsburgh serves the city’s most economically disadvantaged children and families, touching over 20,000 children each year across four programs.

Schenley Heights Community Development Program

Mission/Purpose: To nurture, support and develop the community through wholesome programs that address the academic, moral, cultural, health and recreational needs of its children and youth and their families in the Hill District and throughout the metropolitan area of Pittsburgh.

The Center that C.A.R.E.S. (Children/Adults Recreational & Educational Services)

Mission/Purpose: To provide educational and cultural enrichment programs to children in kindergarten through grade 12 in the heart of Pittsburgh’s Hill District. The Center that C.A.R.E.S. is a faith-based non-profit organization.

A. Philip Randolph Institute

Mission/Purpose: To continue the mission of A. Philip Randolph by creating
opportunities for blacks in the trade union movement, provide training that
leads to living wage employment and increase minority participation in
elections and governmental policy development.

Afro-American Music Institute

Mission/Purpose: To provide systematic education and expertise in specialized instrumental and vocal training in all styles of the African-American and black music traditions that include Gospel, Negro Spirituals, Jazz, Blues, Rhythm and Blues, Soul, Hip Hop and more.

Brothers and Sisters Emerging

Mission/Purpose: To develop thriving African American and other youth
and their families in Garfield and surrounding at risk neighborhoods to find and take advantage of opportunities available to them.

Center for Family Excellence

Mission/Purpose: To enable families survive and thrive amid adversity to overcome spiritual, cultural, and value wounding.

Hill Dance Academy Theater

Mission/Purpose: To develop and train dancers in Black dance traditions, expand knowledge and contributions of Black Dance traditions and create emerging dance artists who will sustain Black dance in the Black community.

Joshua Development Corporation

Mission/Purpose: To eliminate blight by sponsoring comprehensive housing and community development activities, spiritual, educational, human and economic development services to Mt. Oliver and surrounding communities.

Legacy Arts Project

Mission/Purpose: To preserve the history of African art through performance, presentation, and education.

Lemington Community Services

Mission/Purpose: To serve older adults residing in Pittsburgh’s East end by providing quality programs, services and activities free, or at low cost to our participants.

Melting Pot Ministries

Mission/Purpose: To serve children and their families who are underserved by the education, social-emotional and cultural organizations in the South Hills communities of South Park, Bethel Park and Baldwin Whitehall. 

Naomi’s Place Transitional Housing, Inc.

Mission/Purpose: To provide families in second-step recovery with care, guidance, education, prevention, and intervention to alleviate their multiple and complex problems, and to enhance holistically the quality of life for youth, families and the community as a whole.

Network of Hope – Coraopolis Church of God

Mission/Purpose: To promote lasting change in the lives of individuals, families, and communities though a commitment to enrich the lives of youth.

Resurrection Power Inc.

Mission/Purpose: To improve of the quality of life for the children and adults of the Mon communities of Braddock, North Braddock, Rankin and Swissvale.
